¡Cuba! - Part One

As part of the Steinhardt Scholars group (my college within NYU's honors program) brought us to Cuba over spring break, for the most part on their dime. It was beyond life-changing, and has totally influenced my world view, thoughts on teaching, et cetera. We stayed in Havana for five nights and spent one in Trinidad (the Cuban city, not the country), and explored other cities by day. Here are some snippets from the first two days (reminder: if you click on the pictures, they will get larger!)...

What a wonderful stamp to start off my freshly renewed passport!
Twenty C.U.C.'s:
Our first meal in Cuba: lunch at the El Aljibe, "best restaurant in Havana," which was indeed fantastic! Unfortunately, my other strict vegetarian friend on the trip and I did not have a great experience on the dining front for the most of the trip, but Aljibe was quite a delicious way to begin the trip...
Our hotel was ridiculously gorgeous, as is the rest of Cuba!
We had many cultural lectures at The Ludwig Foundation, an organization that aims to bring Cuban art in all forms (writing, art, music, dance, etc.) to the rest of the world, and vice versa:
Cienfuegos is one of the gorgeous cities we visited, and one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites in Cuba:

Part Two will be up soon! If you have any questions, please comment!

P.S. I am going to make an entire post about the cars of Cuba. Warning: even fellow car-apathetics will drool.
